Critical Checklist Before You Ascend

  • Original Government ID Card:

    Aadhaar Card is highly preferred and mandatory for local services.

  • Printed Copy of Darshan Ticket:

    Digital PDFs on smartphones are sometimes rejected at main temple queue entrances; a physical printout is necessary.

  • Strict Traditional Dress:

    Devotees in western clothes will be turned away at security points.

Required Documents Breakdown

Primary Identity

Original Physical Aadhaar Card for every single family member traveling.

Alternative Identity

Original Passport (for NRI pilgrims), PAN card, or Voter ID if Aadhaar is missing.

Ticket Format

Strictly Physical Paper Printouts. Ensure barcodes are printed cleanly. Do not rely entirely on your mobile phone screen, as battery drain or network signal drop is common inside the hill complexes.

Official Tirumala Dress Code Rules

For Men

Allowed: White or traditional colored Dhoti (Vesti) with an upper cloth (Uttariyam), or a simple Kurta-Pyjama.

Banned: Western wear, jeans, T-shirts, shorts, tracksuits, or clothing with aggressive graphic prints.

For Women

Allowed: Traditional Saree, Half-Saree, or a Churidar/Salwar Kameez featuring a proper Dupatta (shawl).

Banned: Jeans, trousers, skirts, sleeveless tops, tight western wear, or transparent clothing.

Children

Must also be dressed in modest, traditional attire when crossing checking points.
